The Bright Action Team
Together we are strong
Who We Are
The Bright Action Team is a nonprofit organization working with Black and minority ethnic (BME) groups in Glasgow and throughout Scotland, supporting children and families who are experiencing the trauma of Autism and Stigmatization.
The organization was created in January 2018, when a group of parents from BME came together to support each other.
Our Mission is to provide practical support to BME children with autism and their families in order to eliminate isolation, social stigma and prejudice.
Activities
Providing Support to Individual and family needs
Peer Support Meetings
With this initiative, our goal is to support one another by sharing our experiences and fears. By doing this we learn different strategies that could help in coping with our circumstances and to make our experiences work for us.
We also strive to strive to provide meaningful support to unique individual and family needs.
Hospital and Home Visits
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies help. Hospital and home visits is one of such strategies. We work with health care professionals who pay visits and help educate parents on how to deal with daily challenges.
Workshops
Having a child with autism impacts various of the lives of all family members. We strive not only to see families cope with daily challenges but also to see them succeed in other aspects of their lives such as careers and business. We have workshops designed to promote career and business growth while overcoming specific challenges caused by autism.
Recreation
The Bright and Action Team organizes recreational activities for families that have kids with autism within the BME community. The goal is to help the kids build self confidence and social skills outside of the family and also provide fun activities to help relieve emotional and mental stress.
